Breath Clean With An Oreck Air Purifier

I remember being a very active child even from the time I was very young. I started playing sports around the age of four or five years old and was always on the go. I wonder sometimes how my parents ever kept up with me. But even being as healthy as I was and as active even I was unable to escape bad genes. Around the time I was eight years old I was diagnoses as having exercise induced asthma. It was a real bummer for a kid with so much to do and so little time to do it all.

While it didn’t make much sense as it turned out I had asthma. Now, what I later found out was even perfectly healthy children such as myself can be diagnosed with asthma. the good news is I was still able to play my sports as long as I used my inhaler before the games etc. The bad news was I was allergic to some of my favorite things like my pets.

My mom was quite the neat freak when I was young and this meant that our house was exceptionally clean but even with all my mom’s hard work there was still plenty of dust and allergens that she could do nothing about. That is why my doctor suggested to my parents that they get an Oreck air purifier to help remove these allergens from the air. Even though we were on a tight budget my parents both felt this investment was well worth it for my health.

It didn’t take long after we set the Oreck air purifier up that I started to notice a real difference in the air quality inside our house. The great thing was though, it wasn’t just me that noticed it. It seemed that we could all breath much easier.

I was so pleased with the results of the Oreck air purifier as a kid that even now as an adult with children of my own I still use them around the house. My children don’t have asthma and with any luck that won’t change but if it does I’ll be prepared.

Which of these air purifiers are good for me?

I’m in the market for an air purifier and I’m not sure which kind I should get. I’ve taken a look at some, and I’m not sure which would fit my needs. I first took a look at some HEPA filters, since I know they filter 99.99% of air particulates. But I also knew that they’re usually loud, you have to change the 0 filter every other month and they take up a lot of energy. I saw a Kenmore Envirosense filter and though it looked nice, but still; the hassle with expensive filters and energy. Before I go on, I should say the men in my family (My dad, brother and me) all have asthma, so we need something that would help with that. We also took a look at some models over at Brookstone. We found a Pure-Ion Advanced Air Purifier. The thing was ugly, but it worked, saying you would have 80% cleaner air in about 8 minutes. This isn’t a HEPA filter, but it had a fan. They say this one helps with asthma, but I’m not sure. Another one from Brookstone was the Blueair HEPA filter, one that was more
impressive than the Pure-Ion. This one came in a tabletop form, but still, the filters and the whopping price tag of 0.
Anyways, after that, we went to the Oreck store because we heard about some kinda amazing deal on TV, letting us try an Oreck Air purifier, vacuum, and a refrigerator purifier. one of Oreck’s points was "You can’t clean the air if you can’t move it", which made perfect sense to me, but there was one trick up my sleeve that made me think otherwise. Anyways, the Oreck one was impressive, requireing no filters and taking up much less noise and space and eating less eletricity than HEPA filters. However, when compared other filters like this one, it ranked the lowest, but I’ve never tried it, so I really wouldn’t know. After that, came our last stop which would be the trick up my sleeve. We went into The Sharper Image immediately seeing their crown acheivement, the Ionic Breeze Quadra, the purifier I had heard about long before the other filters, so I had somewhat of a bias towards it. Like many other purifiers, these use ions and electrons and stuff like that to clean the air
And it game in multiple models, the Tabletop version, the MIDI, the Quadra, the GP, and the Hybrid GP, which is some huge powerful air purifier. The GP caught my eye because It offered deep cleaning without an over-the-top price tag. These however, don’t use fans. So I had no clue how it was cleaning all the air. An explanation from you guys would be helpful. If you guys have owned or used these fiulters, please tell me and how you liked them. Especially if it help with your asthma.

When it comes to ionic purifiers, it looks like they’ve been crowned the new infomercial kings, succeeding The Sharper Image. In fact, you’re probably wondering if this newcomer addresses any of the commonly lambasted issues that took the Ionic Breeze off the market.

Who Is The Ionic Pro Made By?

This purifier is manufactured and marketed by Ionic Pro, LLC. They are not owned by any other company. Until somewhat recently, they marketed their products on television only. Now, however, these products can be found in many retail outlets, including Wal-mart. The fact that they are not owned by another company can be looked at in two ways. It seems that, since they only make the one product in various sizes, it would be easier for them to make a quality product. It also seems like it would be quite easy for them to disappear entirely, too.

Comparing With The Ionic Breeze Air Purifier

Ionic Pro air purifiers share all of their advantages with the very similar Ionic Breeze devices. The most obvious, the main, and many times only difference between them, is the design and shape of actual machine. The Ionic Pro Compact Air Purifier is similar in size to a smaller model of the Ionic Breeze. The Ionic Pro usually is available for less, though. As ionic air purifiers are fairly simple, you can probably safely buy the cheapest that is available to you.

Compared Against HEPA Purifiers

It’s not as simple as you might think, comparing HEPA purifiers to ionic purifiers. Although they’re not quite as efficient, ionic purifiers do basically the same job as a true HEPA air purifier. They use only a minimum of electricity, and are designed to run full time to compensate for the lower efficiency. Once the machine starts making a little buzzing noise, the bar that gathers all the junk has to be wiped off, but there’s never any filters to change. The filter itself is usually a HEPA purifier’s biggest limitation. They are governed by the size of the holes in the filters, which is where air is forced through, blocking things that are not just air. Those air particles that are the most important for any purifier to stop are 99.7% removed in a true HEPA purifier. There is no such guarantee or standard when it comes to HEPA-type purifiers, though. With ionic purifiers, though, the biggest limitation is the air flow. While HEPA-type purifiers can only filter what can’t pass through whatever size holes are in their filters, the ionic purifiers will eventually catch anything that’s attracted to that magnetized bar. This is important information to use when comparing the two. One disadvantage to an ionic purifier is that it will only filter particles that 1 micron or bigger. The most dangerous and hardest to filter particles are 0.3 micron, and that’s what true HEPA air purifiers stop nearly 100% of.

Ionic Pro, LLC makes it easy to choose by having almost all of their features in every one of their ionic purifiers. The main difference between the compact and the full-size is the capacity. This compact purifier works best in small rooms and offices. Oh, and it’s also lacking the Medium fan speed, instead using High and Lo only. Considering the Ionic Pro Compact Air Purifier sells for around half of the cost of the regular one, you might get more benefit from two compact units instead of the one standard.

How good can air purifiers be in regards to toxins? For example, if I accidentally burn a few pounds worth of plastics, accidentally release some Clorine gas, and accidentally mix two dangerous chemicals, and cause massive amounts of super toxic gasses and chemicals to be released, is there any air purifier that, regardless of how toxic the toxins are, or what they are, will clean the air to the point of being safe to re-enter this hypothetical air tight room?

Choice between air purifiers – Blueair or Air Lights?

Hi all – I’m looking to buy an air purifier for my bedroom (just over 150 sq.ft.), to help reduce dust, airborne allergens, etc. My mother smokes a lot, which also doesn’t help. Having been diagnosed with a (very) minor, restrictive lung disease, I’d like to start taking better care of my health – especially in regards to respiration. We do have the general air filter attached to the A/C / heating unit, but I would like something more.

Doing some research, I thought I would just get the Sharper Image Ionic Breeze, but have read many terrible things about it – specifically, the ozone produced is VERY bad for your health. Looking around, I found the Blueair 250E Digital Air Purifier (http://www.achooallergy.com/blueair250eairpurifier.asp#product_reviews) and the Air Lights Plasma Air Purifier (http://reviews.ebay.com/Review-of-the-Air-Lights-Plasma-Air-Purifier_W0QQugidZ10000000002480036).

I’m leaning towards the Blueair, but would like others input and suggestions!
