How do I actively fight ozone issues in my lungs?
It’s summer again, and my chest feels like an elephant is balancing there. Ozone days… I hate them so much. I can’t go outside without being in agony.
I don’t have to hear about ozone warnings, as I know the day before they make any announcements. It always occurs the same way, the same amount of time before orange alerts and such. It’s as predictable as the incoming tide.
I spoke to a doctor about this, but she just discounted tropospheric ozone pollution as a possibility and gave me some pointless medication for indigestion. I’m forced to play doctor on myself (again)… this is ridiculous.
I’m reading this Primatene(R) Mist inhaler which says it destroys ozone in the upper atmosphere. Well what about in my inner atmosphere? My fight seems to be with ozone, right here, right now.
Sure I can get all kinds of air purifiers for my home, but I want to leave the house and I’d like to do so without an oxygen tank!
I’m reading up on the chemistry of it all tonight, as I consider trying the inhaler when I’m really bad off to test it out. I hate taking such measures (any medication of any type), and I’d really like to hear from someone who knows more about this.
Any pulmonary specialists out there have any ideas? How do you get your patients through the summer? You hook them up with an oxygen tank, don’t you? I’m not as bad off as some who need that degree of intervention as far as I know. I’m just stuck inside when it’s hot out.
Also, I’m relatively curious about the substances used in the nicotine atomizers. If I got a nicotine-free version, is there any possibility that it might help this? That would be so much easier.
I am not currently under a doctor’s care, giving the appearance of perfect health whatever test you throw at me, I am a 38yr old average build female constantly fighting Fibromyalgia with supplements and lifestyle changes. I’ve gone from not being able to butter a piece of bread to stocking shelves all night without pain killers!
So now I must learn how to fight the ozone induced agony… help!

Your difficulty breathing could go along with the Fibromyalgia. I have the same problems. I’m glad to hear you are using supplements and adding lifestyle changes. These are very important in the treatment of Fibromyalgia. I don’t know anything about the atomizers, but I don’t think I’d be willing to try that either. However, a few months ago I found a great medication that is helping me. I have less pain, more energy and just feel so much better all over. It works by boosting the body’s own immune system. It is called Low Dose Naltrexone. I will give you a couple of links so you can check it out for yourself and see if you think it would be right for you, too. One is a website for the medication and the other a video on using it for fibromyalgia.
